7-way Hips with Ryan J Flaherty
Your gluteus medius (aka your “the side of you butt”) is a key muscle that helps to stabilize your pelvis during standing and walking. It’s imperative for knee stability, low back injury prevention and rehab. Those who lack the ability to adequately engage their gluteus medius will often compensate by overusing their tensor fasciae latae (TFL), lateral hip rotators and back extensors muscles. 7-way Hips will help to prevent that by building up muscle endurance in the gluteus medius, while also helping with lateral hip stability.
In the following video, Ryan walks us through 7-way Hips. Ryan is the Senior Director of Performance at Nike. He has dedicated his time and career to understanding the common denominators of elite performance. Ryan’s research and commitment has lead him to identify key factors of human performance, allowing him to work with many of the worlds best, such as: Serena Williams, Russell Wilson and hundreds of other professional athletes.
Enjoy, and add this into your weekly regiment.
